Solar Hybrid/grid Tied With Battery Backup Systems
The terms used for this system are Solar hybrid/ Grid tied with battery backup system. This system is synchronous to utility grid (Electricity supplied from Electricity board/company) also has battery backup feature. In simple words this system is a combination of Solar off grid and Solar on grid.

How The System Works
Solar PV panels generate electricity when exposed to sunlight. This electricity is in the form of Direct current(DC). The Hybrid inverter is connected to the grid and batteries. The Direct current generated by PV panels is used to charge the batteries. Meanwhile Solar hybrid inverter converts DC current to Alternating current(AC) and is fed back into the building for consumption or to the grid if no loads are being used that time. Interesting feature is when Grid electricity is available the system is capable to feed excess Solar electricity back to grid and during power cuts feed back to grid is stopped. However, Solar panels are still utilized and will be charging the batteries so that electricity to the building is never stopped.
